Arc Camera Utilities is a streamlined time-saving Blender add-on that speeds up the way you work with cameras. Designed for artists and creators who want intuitive control and faster results, this tool helps you stay focused on your scene—not buried in menus.
I initially created this add-on for myself, I was tired of having to go the outliner ever time I want to select or swap a camera, then having to click on each individual camera to change settings. So I created this add-on to completely streamline the process and make it feel effortless.
Now whenever I am creating a cinematic or a scene I can easily switch between camera's with a single keypress and choose to look through the camera at the same time! Not only this but I can use the N-Panel to adjust any camera I have cycled to; easily changing key features such as focal length, aperture, focus distance or even select a focus object!
Not only this but whenever I want to create a new camera I can use either "Shift-A" or the N Panel and it will create a new camera with the all the settings I can define in advanced. This add on is a life saver for me so I hope it will be a life saver for you!
Key Features
Cycle Cameras
The MAIN reason I created this add-on and my favorite feature! The Camera Cycling!
- Press the "Cycle Cameras" button within the N Panel or use the hotkey "Y" to instantly cycle seamlessly through all cameras in the scene!
- You also have the option to cycle through disabled or hidden cameras!
- You have the option to automatically "look through" your cameras as you are cycling!
- There is a section at the top of this panel which shows you the name of the current camera being cycled.
Add "Arc" Camera Instantly
Just for reference an "Arc Camera" is your camera with your default settings applied (default settings can be adjusted; more on that below)
What happends when you add this camera:
- Creates a camera from the current view and makes it the current object
- Automatically looks through the camera created
- Default settings applied for speed and consistency (Default settings can be created and adjusted)
- Searches for an empty in the scene named “Depth Of Field” and uses it as the focus target. If none exists, it creates one automatically at the origin point. Super useful for some projects with a main subject or point of focus.
Adjust Active Camera Settings
This will enable you to have access to and adjust the most commonly used camera settings EFFICIENTLY via the N-Panel.
The following can be adjusted:
- Camera Focal Length
- Aperture
- Blades
- Ratio
- Enable Or Disable Depth of Field.
- When DOF is enabled; it allows you to select a Depth Of Field Target or manually adjust focus distance.
Customize Default Camera Settings
This will enable you to create you own default camera settings that will automatically be applied every time you create an "Arc Camera" via the button in the N Panel or via the Shift-A menu.
You can set defaults for the following:
- Focal length
- DOF - enable/disable, set default target and or set a distance
- Aperture
- Blades
- Ratio
Blender Compatibility ✅
Tested and fully compatible with Blender 4.5 and 5.0, ensuring smooth integration with your current or future projects.
🔑 FAQ
Repositioning Default Panels:
I strongly urge you to re-arrange the panels in the N-Panel add on to your liking.
It is modular. I personally like to have Cycle Cameras at the top followed by the Adjust Current Cameras, Focus Settings & lastly Camera Defaults. After you have positioned the panels to your liking please SAVE YOUR START UP FILE so these changes save across all projects!
What is the “Depth Of Field” object?
It’s a named empty used as the camera’s focus object. If one doesn’t exist in the scene, the add-on creates it automatically!
Can I change the default camera settings?
Yes. You can adjust the default settings used when creating an Arc Camera, including focal length, DOF, and bokeh options.
How do I cycle through cameras?
Use the “Cycle Cameras” button or press Y. You can optionally include hidden cameras and auto-switch to camera view as you cycle.
Will There Be Support For Orthographic & Fish Eye Cameras?
You can currently still cycle through those camera's though there are some bugs I am trying to figure out. I have an update coming out very soon which will have intergrated support for creating default settings and adjust settings on-the-fly for the Orthographic & Fish Eye Cameras.
I most likely will add a "Beta" version with this functionality if you really require it sooner but for now perspective camera's are the best supported.
